Tenerife's party scene lives in the south of the island. Playa de las Américas is the base: the Las Verónicas strip packs clubs and bars side by side, and on the seafront the beach clubs work as beach clubs by day and nightclubs by night. Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos are right next door, a short taxi ride away, so wherever you stay, the night is close.

Nights start late, and every venue has its own personality. Papagayo runs a different resident party on each night it opens, from reggaeton and Latin hits at La Loka to house and tech house at Essence. Monkey Beach Club has hosted DJs above Playa de Troya since 2007 and throws The White Party, where everyone dresses in white. Mala Mía brings its urban nights, and OA Beach Club hosts open-air beach parties.
The calendar doesn't stop when summer ends: in autumn the clubs keep their weekly nights going, and every February or March the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife fills the capital's streets. Every year the island's capital takes its carnival to the streets, with daytime parades and night-time parties across its main avenues and squares. It falls in February or March, as the dates follow the Easter calendar.
